Rigid Deck Company LLC is a custom deck builder serving Wentzville, MO and St. Charles County, answering common questions about deck construction, materials, pricing, permits, and timelines.
Below we have a list of questions you may be asking yourself when it comes to getting a deck built.
How much does a deck cost?
Unfortunately this depends on many different factors. You can text me and we can get an appointment scheduled and I can give you an estimate based on the type of deck and materials you are wanting!
How long is the estimate good for?
The estimate is good for two weeks. This is because the cost of lumber and materials is constantly changing.
Do you get permits from the city?
Absolutely! Once you decide to hire us to build your deck we will get the plans set based on your approval and then I will submit those to the municipality for approval.
How does payment for the project work?
Payment for the deck is 3 phases. First payment is 50% and that is charged once materials are delivered. Second payment is 40% and that is charged once work begins. Final payment is the remaining 10% and that is charged once the project is completed.
What types of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, cashiers check, money orders, and personal checks. We offer cards and affirm as a payment option too but there is a 3% fee. Please note that there will be a fee charged if checks bounce. Also consider that writing a bad check in Missouri is a felony.
Why do you only offer aluminum railings?
We only offer aluminum railings for a few reasons. Aluminum railings are very little maintenance. They don’t require sealing, painting, and they don’t corrode or deteriorate. Plus they come with a limited lifetime warranty.
Do you offer wood decking as an option?
No we do not. Wood decking requires lots of maintenance and does not last nearly as long as PVC or composite decking. We also cannot offer a warranty on wood decking.
Do you offer wood railings as an option?
No we do not. Wood railings require lots of maintenance, they tend to bend and warp, and they do not last nearly as long as aluminum.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes we do! We have a 2 year labor warranty. If issues arise with materials we will fix them for no labor charge.
Do you do deck “facelifts”?
No we do not. We only do new custom deck builds from scratch. We can do a deck tear down and complete rebuild but the tear down will be an additional cost.
Do you fix existing deck issues?
No we do not. Only full custom deck builds.
Is steel deck framing better than pressure-treated wood?
“Better” depends on priorities. Steel is often better for homeowners who want maximum straightness, stability, and longevity, while wood is often chosen for lower upfront cost.
Does steel framing work with composite decking?
Yes—steel framing is an excellent match for composite and PVC decking because it helps keep the surface flatter and more uniform. If paired with a decking that has a 50 year warranty you could have a deck that lasts 50 years potentially.
How much more does steel framing cost?
On many builds, steel framing is commonly higher than wood framing (often in the +15% to +35% range for the framing portion), but the real number depends on deck size, design complexity, and site conditions. We provide exact pricing after a consultation.
Do steel deck frames rust?
New Castle Steel components are typically galvanized to help resist corrosion. Site conditions matter, so we’ll recommend best practices for fasteners and connections to support long-term performance.
